MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL — The Mountain Brook community is mourning the loss of a longtime teacher at Mountain Brook High School. Bobby Plummer, who had been a teacher and coach at the school for more than 20 years, suffered a stroke and died Dec. 31. He was 58 years old.
"He was an integral part of our school and loved by thousands of students, faculty and staff members during his 26 years of service at MBJH," Mountain Brook Schools said in a statement. "Even more so, he was an exemplary person, leader, mentor and friend."
Plummer coached the MBJH golf team and taught English, World History, Creative Writing, Reading, Academic Skills and most recently Career Prep B.
"It is difficult to accurately capture what an impact this wonderful man has had on our entire school, on each of us, on this community, on his family, and on everyone he came into contact with. Mr. Plummer will be greatly missed," MBJH principal Donald Clayton said Wednesday.
A celebration of life for Plummer will be held Jan. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Mountain Brook High School baseball field.
