I have a job opening I am hoping to fill ASAP for a full time freelance contractor assistant to help my Handyman husband with his general residential home remodeling /construction work business. This job requires skill / trade knowledge of general construction / handyman / remodel work including: framing, minor electrical, plumbing, drywall, trim, flooring, painting, basic carpentry, cabinetry, tile, must be comfortable with power tools and willing to work hard. Please contact me immediately if interested. My husbands current assistant just got into the plumbers union and gave us very little notice he was leaving. We are mid job so I have work now. I can offer full-time part-time or temporary work for as many hours/days possible. I would prefer you work at least 3 days a week. Prefer someone available 4-6 days a week. Usually we work 5 days a week Mon-Fri but sometimes an additional Sat or Sun (never both) although not necessary for you to work weekends. If you want full-time work we occasionally we have 1-2 days off between jobs or when doing consults so there might be a few days off a month when you are not needed. I am willing to pay generously based on your actual skill level and how much you can do without training or constant supervision. You also need to know your limits - speak up if you are not comfortable with something or having trouble getting something done properly so my husband can help instruct you better or give you a different task and take over what you were unable to do. I don’t want to find out half way through a floor installation that it was done wrong and we have to redo it all because you said you could do it but didn’t stop even as it wasn’t going well. I’d rather you communicate instead of wasting any time. No one knows everything! My husband is willing to teach a little on a few things you may not be as familiar with as you are other things but this job requires basic carpentry knowledge and at least 1-2 years of hands on experience preferably more - whether at a trade school or job with real world experience. I am NOT looking for subcontractors. We don’t have a large budget and have not had good luck hiring subcontractors. However I might be interested in hiring multiple people if you have a small crew that all need work. If you are a subcontractor only reply if your willing to work for an hourly fee per person. Let me know if you have a minimum pay requirement, any conflicting schedule issues or your availability. We can discuss pay once I see your skill / experience level. Most of the work is in Howard County - usually in the the Ellicott City / Columbia Area. Contact us and we can set up a time for you to come out to work with my husband ASAP. I would set up a trial day where you come work right away for a day to see how much you know. Then we can set your hourly rate from that or base your pay off from that trial day and go from there. I will pay you for the trial work day at a fair price. Pay is based on skill level. Very generous to hard workers. Work is usually 9-5 Mon-Fri & an occasional Sat. Flexible if you need a specific schedule. Will accept part time or temporary employment if you want to schedule week to week. COVID-19 considerations:
