Let’s do something different. Interested in guitar and drums to do some retro blues (think Yardbirds). Seeking a couple of guys in their 50s or so who are local to the 85022 zip code. I don’t want to have to schedule things for a weekly session and drive to the hinterlands. Rather, two friends who want something easy to put together. Unfortunately, I’ve spent the past few years immersed in the business side of it and am tired of that stuff. I want to do music again – create, record, jam, live, whatever! If you’re a guitarist, just love blues and retro rock. And if you’re a drummer, beats and fills are the order of the day. Neil Peart isn’t needed. Doug Clifford will do just fine. As for both, please, no rock clichés (i.e., you look like you belong on the show Cops, replete with ear stud and plastered with tattoos, or are on parole). In any event, I’m a bit of a musicologist. I love to talk about music history and making records. As well, I love to drink beer (although these days I sip more than anything). And, as I alluded to, I’ve spent some time on the business side of it. In that regard, I’ve figured out how to make records and get them to radio (for those with more ambition than just playing the local mom and pop for free). Finally, I’ve got a shitload of recording equipment and live in the world of spinning tape and vinyl records. I’d love to start hanging out in some drummer’s spare room or garage, have some fun, and see what the hell happens?
