Galway Guild Seeks Vocalist/Guitar Player

Meets

1400 John F Kennedy Blvd, Philadelphia PA

Description

The Band “Galway Guild” has been around for more than 10 years now. We play a mix of Americana (Johnny Cash, Van Morrison), Modern Rock/Folk Rock (Mumford, Lumineers, Oasis), and a mix of Irish Themed Rock. (Which is our niche and hook) This includes Traditional Irish/Rebel Songs (British Soldiers, Sons of Molly, Irish Rover), Modern (Dropkick Murphys, Pogues, Flogging Molly) and even some classic/southern rock/country. (CCR, U2, Petty etc etc). It’s a mash up for sure. We have been known to throw in various styles and genres depending on the crowd and the feeling that night. Different? Yes… But it works. Due to some life changes, our previous singer had to step away from the band. We parted as friends, but the Guild is looking to get back to practices/gigs and looking forward to the end of COVID. We are seeking a vocalist/acoustic guitarist to handle about a third of the 60+ songs we play. Our current lineup includes: Mandolin/Guitar/Vocalist, Bassist/Vocalist, Accordion, & Drums. We all have day jobs and other commitments, so we do our best to keep it both fun & professional. The band has its own rehearsal space in Prospect Park (Right off 95 by PHL Airport). Over the years we have had some cool opportunities such as opening for House of Pain when they came through Philly, playing various Atlantic City spots (Irish Pub Tropicana – Chickie and Petes etc), along with countless bars, festivals, and special events such as Irish Weekend down the shore. (Wildwood) It’s a great situation to be a part of. No drama and fairly laid back. If you're interested in seeing what we are about, then record a short video of yourself singing with an acoustic (No MP3s please) and send it over along with a brief description of your musical endeavors and any questions you may have. - Galway Guild Here’s a few live videos of us playing to give you an idea of what we do. Don’t worry if you don’t recognize the tunes featured here. As I said, we pivot quite a bit, especially when playing the bar scene. Our goal is to find the right fit/personality and then we can figure out songs. • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzuD25_nw1k – This was recorded at the Ardmore Music Hall (PA) with a touring band (The Druids) from Ireland. • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcAH62Z1QZo – Same show as above – 2nd Singer/Mando/Guitar player leading this tune.
