About Healing Arts Houston Healing Arts Houston brings together leaders from across culture, policy, research, and healthcare to act on the evidence base for the health benefits of the arts. As the world emerges from the greatest health crisis in a generation, we affirm what artists have always known and research is now proving—that the arts can heal. The program is centered around a three-day international conference—‘Innovations in Arts and Health’—taking place at the University of Houston between January 20–22. Healing Arts Houston is co-produced by the University of Houston and CULTURUNNERS in partnership with a coalition of partners, including the Houston Methodist, Houston Arts Alliance, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH), Blaffer Art Museum, Paper City, Barbara Davis Gallery, Fresh Arts, Arts & Health @ NYU, and the Open Mind Project. About The Future is Unwritten Healing Arts Initiative As the world emerges from the greatest health challenge to the human race in a century, Healing Arts is a cultural call-to-action for improved physical, mental and social health. The initiative incorporates a series of city activations exploring the role of the arts as a new frontier and partner in health, care and wellbeing, an international media campaign, and ongoing charity auctions to support the WHO’s arts and mental health response to COVID-19 and artist-led projects on the front-line of the pandemic. Healing Arts is produced by CULTURUNNERS in collaboration with Arts & Health @ NYU and under the auspices of the World Health Organization’s Arts and Health Program. The initiative was launched in 2020 as part of the United Nations’ 75th Anniversary Programme (UN75) and Decade of Action. Learn more about the initiative here.
