Deep in the winter quiet, the ever intuitive Jewish calendar brings us a celebration of possibilities and abundance in honor of The Tree Tu B’Shvat celebrates, the birthday of the trees, and has become a modern Jewish Earth Day! In the lunar month of Shvat, we come together: to pause, to bless, to enjoy the fruits of our beautiful earth and to recommit ourselves to actions that steward this world we share with our friends the trees. This year we add a special dedication to Martin Luther King Jr. as we commit to racial justice together All are Welcome! 3 Different Programs Contemplative snow shoe in woods and fieldFamily outdoor program with connection to the trees, games, sledding, and X-country skiing Musical program for young children in common house All VT STATE COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. Please stay home if you or your children are feeling sick. Family program for families with children 6-11 years old – led by educator Melanie Kessler We will play games and share a “kid-friendly” ritual that deepens our gratitude for the land and revitalizes our commitment toward ecology. Most activities will be outside. Dress warm and don’t let the weather keep you from this nurturing community event. Registration required. Contemplative Snow Shoe in the Woods – led by Kohenet Sephirah Stacey Oshkello with musical guests Together we will snowshoe around the fields & woods as we engage in mindfulness activities that connect us to each other, the seasonal holiday, and the earth. As we journey through the four worlds of Jewish mysticism we will learn from the natural wonders around us and the teachings that dwell within. Bring your own snowshoes. Musical Program for Young Children Honoring Trees – led by Andrea Soberman of Musical Munchkins Andrea leads a warm and inviting program that gets everyone engaged in music together. Come sing together, honor the earth and the trees. We will gather in the common house and adults will wear masks. Bring sleds, snow toys, layers, snow pants, snow boots, and a happy smile. If snow conditions are heavy, please bring snow shoes. LIVING TREE ALLIANCE IS A KIBBUTZ-INSPIRED COMMUNITY REIMAGINED FOR THE MODERN WORLD.
