It was not so many years ago that if I would have described a beer as sour, tart, or funky, you would have asked what was wrong with it. Now, however, craft beer consumers have come to recognize all these terms as not only acceptable but desirable. We sometimes treat sour beers as if they fit in a singular category, but sour, tart and funky flavors can occur in many beer styles, both traditional and experimental.
In this class, brewer and all-around beer expert Logan McLean will guide you through samples of some of his favorite sour, tart, and funky beers on the market today. As you sample these fine beverages, you will learn all about how these unique flavor profiles develop and what brewers do to cultivate the flavors we love. Allow us to take you to funky town, and it’s neighboring villages of sourville and tartland, in this exciting beer class.
