Description

Learn more about what you can do to take care of our natural flora and fauna! Sponsored by the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation Guest speaker: Norma Lewis and Bobbie Laminack from Bear Creek Nature Center Description: Topic: “What You Can Do for Wildlife” If you love nature and animals, this is a program for you! The goal of Bear Creek Nature Center in nearby Chattahoochee Hills is to teach people of all ages about our environment in the hope that they will cultivate a personal appreciation of our local ecosystem. Both veterans of environmental education, the Center’s Norma Lewis and Bobbie Laminack will bring some of the live animals the Center cares for—such as a screech owl, box turtle, baby alligator and a python. They will talk about how and why these creatures came to live at the Center and what you can do to improve habitat for native wildlife in your own little part of the world. Registrants are invited to bring their own lunch to the event or by special arrangement with Oink Joint, you may pick one up there for less than $10.00. Doors open at 11:30 am. Program begins at 12 noon sharp and ends at 1:00 pm. The Carnegie Library is one of the most historically significant structures in downtown Newnan and was built in 1904. The building served as a library until 1987 and is now a honor system library with adult and children's programs.
