Description
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter. The facility, located at 75 Marino Ave. in Port Washington, houses dozens of dogs — and all of them need a furever home.
At Patch, we round up a list of adoptable dogs for a series called "Patch's Adoptable Pets of the Week." This week, one new dog came to the shelter — so we decided to just shine the spotlight on that resident pooch. His name is Bear.
The dog-only shelter is facilitating adoptions by appointment only. An appointment can be made by calling 516-869-6311. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
BEARMaggie T. Photography Info from the shelter:
Bear is a 1-year-old Shepherd mix that was surrendered to us because his owner could no longer care for him. Bear is a super fun, high-energy guy that lives to chase a tennis ball — he will even "throw" it at you to toss it back to him!
He is working on learning his commands and is getting better every day. Bear loves getting brushed, enjoys being pet, and likes to hang out with other dogs. Bear is fearful of children so he would need to live in an adult-only home.
If you would like more information on Bear, you can give us a call at 516-869-6311 or email [email protected] to request an application.
