Press release from the Town of Dedham: 01/04/2022 12:47 PM The DOSA Parent Action Team is excited to announce a free, two-part virtual webinar for parents and caregivers on January 11 and 18 from 7-8 PM. Join Counselor Jon Mattleman for a fun and dynamic virtual program about what teens and tweens are really thinking, what they fear, why they do not share more, and how adults can effectively support them, especially during COVID-19. This presentation covers depression and anxiety, social media and technology, suicide, "acting out" behaviors, drug and alcohol use, and more. Participants will learn strategies they can implement now (Who has time to wait?!), including new ways of understanding teen/tween behavior, innovative techniques for engaging them, and specific language to better elicit productive conversations. This 2-part series is for parents, caregivers, and community members caring for teens and tweens. Each session will be 60 minutes and a replay will be available to all registrants for four days after the webinar.  When you register, you will be automatically registered for both sessions. The link to access each session will be sent via email and will be the same for both evenings. Please share with your friends, neighbors, and networks! About the Presenter: Jon holds a BA from Clark University and an MS in Counseling from the University of Hartford. He served as Director of the Stoughton, MA Youth Commission from 1983 to 1993, and as Director of Needham, MA Youth Services from 1993 to June 2017. Since 1993, alongside his full-time work, Jon has operated his practice to offer presentations, consultations, and consulting services. He is now the Clinical Director of Minding Your Mind's Massachusetts office. Jon and his wife Wendy live in the Boston area, and adore their adult children – daughter Jesse and son Jake.  In his spare time Jon loves to spend time in Western Massachusetts, to read, kayak, and sometimes, simply do nothing.  Read more about Jon on his website at http://www.Jonmattleman.com or follow Jon on Twitter at https://twitter.com/jonmattleman  or contact Jon by email at [email protected].
