NEW HAVEN, CT — Carlos Sosa-Lombardo has was named as the director of New Haven's new Department of Community Resilience Wednesday.
The department was unanimously by the Board of Alders in September.
The work will focused on homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, crisis response, violence prevention, and re-entry initiatives.
Sosa-Lombardo's is one of four positions filled in the department that is supported by funding from the American Rescue Plan.
New York University and Harvard University-educated Sosa-Lombardo began work with the city on December 2018 as director of the head of New Haven's reentry program for formerly incarcerated people, and serves as director of Special Projects for the city.
In a news conference Wednesday, Mayor Justin Elicker called Sosa-Lombardo "passionate about the work he does."
