ATTLEBORO, MA — Three people, including two teenagers, were arrested Tuesday after police say they tried to break into the same Attleboro house twice in one day in an attempt to steal marijuana. Police first responded to a home on Peck Street Tuesday after receiving a call of an attempted break-in just before 4:20 a.m. The caller and another person who lives in the home were able to lock themselves in a bedroom while watching the intruders through a live video feed on a home surveillance camera. Less than seven hours later, officers returned to the same house after receiving a call of a second-attempted break-in just after 11 a.m. Attleboro police say they spoke with one of the residents of the house, who said the intruders could be heard in the basement before they ran off. By reviewing the surveillance footage, police say they were able to determine it was the same suspects who had returned to the scene of the earlier crime. "During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to determine that these were not random acts, and the residence in question was specifically targeted by the suspects for the purpose of stealing marijuana," Attleboro police said in a press release. Nothing was taken and no one was hurt during the break-in. After police shared a description of a possible suspect car with local law enforcement agencies, police in Providence conducted a traffic stop on a car matching the report. Providence police arrested three Rhode Island residents, Jaylen Ladue, 20, Asuriah Becote, 18, and a 17-year-old on fugitive from justice charges. Police believe this was not a random crime, and one of the residents told WHDH that one of the suspects is his cousin, 7 News reported. Police originally thought one of the suspects appeared to be carrying a gun, but it was later determined to be an airsoft gun. Attleboro police are working to obtain arrest warrants for home invasion charges against all three suspected intruders.
