THREE AWESOME COLLAGE CLASSES! Sign up here: 1) Participants will learn to paint and alter paper to create interesting patterns and textures. They will experiment by testing different tools and techniques using various types of recycled paper, and they will have an opportunity to create their own collection of painted and textured papers to incorporate in their abstract collages or other mixed media art. This workshop is appropriate for anyone who wants to make beautiful papers, especially artists working with collage, journaling, altered books, and mixed media painting. 2) Participants will create an abstract collage on a wood panel. They will choose papers from a wide collection of hand-painted, patterned, and vintage papers, selecting images and text that speak to them. The goal of this workshop is to provide a non-judgmental and supportive setting where participants can challenge themselves to respond intuitively to their art and unleash their creativity. We will discuss materials, composition and abstraction, and participate in a group share at the end of the workshop. 3) Participants will learn mixed media techniques to add to their abstract collage design using a variety of tools. They will work on adding color with paint and oil pastels, layering and editing, creating translucent layered effects, glazing, scrapping, sanding to create textures and patterns. They will need the collage they created in the previous class or any other collage they’ve made, preferably on a sturdy and durable surface like wood.
