Press release from the City of Austin: January 4, 2022 Case: 21-3640359 Date: Thursday, December 30, 2021 Time: 9:04 a.m. and 5:56 a.m. Location #1: 1601 East St. Elmo Road (Shell Gas) Location #2: 1100 Center Ridge Drive (Austin Telco Federal Credit Union) The Austin Police Department Robbery Unit is requesting community assistance with identifying suspects involved in a string of attempted ATM thefts around the Austin area. On December 30, 2021, at about 9:04 a.m., the suspects entered the Shell Gas located at 1601 E. St. Elmo Road and threatened the clerk while attempting to pry open the ATM inside the store. On December 30, 2021 at about 5:56 a.m., the same suspects also attempted an ATM theft at the Austin Telco Federal Credit Union located at 1100 Center Ridge Drive in North Austin several hours prior. Investigators believe multiple suspects participated in these crimes, and they may have connections to the Houston, Texas area. Photos and descriptions of the suspects are below.
