Press release from the City of Brentwood: 01/05/2022 For those who may be wondering how the City approaches the salting/plowing of roads, please know that we have enough manpower and equipment to tackle our primary and secondary roads, but beyond that it's up to mother nature. Primary roads are just as they sound, think Franklin Rd., Concord Rd., Wilson Pike, Sunset Rd., etc. When those have been plowed and salted, we hit the secondary roads such as Knox Valley/Gordon Petty Dr., Meadowlake Rd., Jones Parkway, Steeplechase Dr., Liberty Church, etc. Unfortunately that leaves the road in front of your house (for most folks) unplowed, unsalted, with a mix of snow and ice. It is simply not possible to get to all of Brentwood's roads with the resources we keep year-round. It is our hope that most residents can (slowly) make it to one of the secondary roads and then out to a primary. No doubt there are some that will not be able to do so. Our Public Works crews run 12 trucks and work long hours when winter weather hits. They use salt when it will be effective, but cease doing so when temperatures get below about 15 degrees. Salt really doesn't do anything when it is that cold. Please bear with us as we do our best to make the most improvement for the most people. If you have an emergency, as always, please call 911 and our first responders will get to you as quickly as possible.
