WHEATON, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office made five arrests and doled out dozens of tickets during its recent winter holiday crackdown.
Police increased patrols from Dec. 17 through Jan. 3 to target seatbelt violations and distracted and impaired driving. Extra emphasis was given to patrols during late-night hours, a news release said .
The following citations were by DuPage Sheriff's Office during the crackdown:
38 speeding tickets 10 tickets for lack of insurance 2 citations for expired license plates 2 citations for improper lane usage 1 ticket for disobeying a traffic control device 1 ticket for improperly passing an emergency vehicle 1 citation for distracted driving The agency's increased enforcement was part of a statewide initiative funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
