Description
LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange Public Library is canceling nearly all of its in-person programs in January because of the high rate of coronavirus cases, according to the library's website.
It appears the policy leaves unaffected those who want to visit the library for other purposes such as looking for books.
According to its calendar, 50 of the library's 67 planned in-person events for January have been canceled. Another 14 have gone virtual. Three others remain in person — the library board's monthly meeting, a blood drive and Mary's Curbside Craft. (The Jan. 17 craft event is apparently outside.)
The library's executive director, Charity Gallardo, couldn't be reached for immediate comment Wednesday.
The library's administration, rather than the elected board, appears to have made the decision to cancel in-person programs. The board, which last met Dec. 21, did not have pandemic-related issues on its meeting agenda.
