Description
CHARLOTTE, NC — A crash after 5 a.m. Tuesday killed two people, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. It happened near the 2700 block of Freedom Drive.
When they arrived on scene, police found a Nissan Maxima and a Hyundai Sonata, both with severe damage, according to police. Both drivers were taken to the hospital. Two passengers in the Maxima were pronounced dead on the scene, identified as Onjenay Porter, 25, and David Coleman, 32.
Investigators determined the Maxima was traveling west on Freedom Drive when the driver, Kenya Harris, tried to make a left turn to Pacific Street. The Sonata, driven by Takensha Autrey, was traveling east when Harris cut in front of her, resulting in the crash.
Police got two warrants for Harris for felony deaths by motor vehicle, and cited her for DWI, driving with a revoked license and failure to yield right of way.
