Woman Suspected Of Murder On Reservation Turns Herself In

TUCSON, AZ — A woman sought on suspicion of a federal first-degree murder charge in connection with the Dec. 26 death of a bicyclist on the Pascua Yaqui Indian Reservation, turned herself in to reservation police Tuesday night, according to the FBI Phoenix Field Office. Yvette Garcia, 35, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and assault with intent to commit murder, according to court documents. The FBI on Tuesday announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to Garcia's arrest and conviction. Federal authorities were seeking Garcia in connection to an incident in which an SUV ran over and killed a woman who was riding a bicycle, according to a criminal complaint. The victim was not identified.The woman on the bicycle was hit near 7781 S. Camino Benem, according to a criminal complaint. The victim was found next to a broken bicycle, with tire tracks leading toward and away from her body, FBI investigators said in the criminal complaint. Garcia was driving a 2007 silver and black Hyundai Tucson at the time of the victim's death, the complaint said, and investigators are still looking for the SUV. The FBI and the Pascua Yaqui Police Department asked anyone with information on Garcia's whereabouts to contact the FBI Phoenix Field Office at 623-466-1999.
