Douglas, Paulding State Rep Micah Gravley Will Not Seek 6th Term

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — State Rep. Micah Gravley, who represents parts of Douglas and Paulding counties in the Georgia House of Representatives, will not seek a sixth term, he announced Sunday. Gravley, a Republican from Douglasville, has served the 67th House District since 2012. He posted to his personal Facebook page Sunday saying it would be his last legislative session, calling it "bittersweet indeed." "Words cannot express the gratitude I have for those who stood by my side, my constituents, and my family and friends whom I thank God for as I walked this journey," he said. Gravley told the Douglas County Sentinel that he made the decision not to run again several months ago, and made public comments about it at a September event in Paulding County. He said family is the main reason he's not running for his sixth term this year — he doesn't want to miss out on anything with his children. "Our girls are growing up in the blink of an eye, and as you parents know, nothing is worth missing out on that. God has given me great peace about leaving office and, being a dad, husband and coach are passions I thank God for," he posted to his official Facebook page Monday. Read more from the Sentinel here.
