Description

Oregon Society of Artists presents the 2nd Annual Portraits, Figures, and Selfies Exhibition Gallery Show; Portraits, Figures, and Selfies Exhibition Exhibition Dates: February 2 - 23, 2022 Exhibition Online: February 3 - April 6, 2022 The Oregon Society of Artists (OSA) is proud to present Portraits, Figures, and Selfies! Join us in celebrating the figure at the Oregon Society of Artists! As long as artists have been creating, the human figure has been a central theme in the arts. Ranging from representational to abstract, anatomical to conceptual, artists have been capturing the aura, personality, humor, and beauty of humanity since ancient times. In both form and concept, no subject is more challenging, or rewarding, than translating the human body, spirit, and soul through pigment, line, and contour. Throughout the last two years, we’ve collectively learned anew the resilience and fragility of the human body. Portraits, Figures, and Selfies features artists’ interpretations of the figure, human or otherwise! Whether drawn, painted, sculpted, or photographed, the exhibited works delve into the psyche, reflect the self, and depict the body in all of its strength, beauty, and humanity. Join us for an opening reception on the first Thursday of February 2, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Free and open to the public, the reception is a great opportunity to meet the artists and see some of the finest work created by our Oregon artists! Founded in 1926, the Oregon Society of Artists is a welcoming community of artists located in SW Portland. Our mission is to promote the visual arts of the diverse communities of our region, with educational and exhibition opportunities for artists at all levels of accomplishment. Classes and workshops are offered both online and in-person to artists of all kinds! OSA’s Gallery hosts a new show every month with the intention of helping artists get their work before the public. The true spirit on which OSA was founded is as alive today as it was in 1926. This show will feature portraits, figures, and selfies of all kinds.
