Job Summary: Project Houseworks is a growing nonprofit organization with a need for a Construction Specialist. The purpose of Project Houseworks to ensure there is quality, safe affordable housing in our community. This is accomplished through its Senior Programs (home repairs and home modifications) for seniors and its Home Affordability Program for low income families and persons looking to achieve the dream of home ownership. The right Construction Specialist candidate exhibits a passion for providing safe, affordable housing to those in need in our community. This position reports to the Senior Construction Manager and is responsible for the home repair and modification tasks assigned to him by the Senior Construction Manager. This position ensures that projects are conducted within a professional standard of quality. Responsibilities Office • Upload progress job photos, enter daily logs, and transfer project agreement updates into BuilderTrend, monday.com and/or any other company prescribed software / hard files • Review next job with manager, looking at project agreement, photos, and past daily logs On-site Project Duties • Communicate with homeowner to ensure their safety and comfort • Walk through job with homeowner upon arrival and determine action plan for day /walk homeowner through the final work and ask them if they have requests for additional items to be addressed, tell them requests will be passed to manager, and enter daily log • Keep job site clean and remove debris by the end of each day • Problem-solve collectively with crew members and present potential solution when clearance is needed • Control work quality and ensure final product meets Project Houseworks’ standards • Apply efforts toward Project Houseworks’ Home Affordability Program and other programs as directed, which may include: o assisting in preliminary assessments of vacant properties under consideration for acquisition o performing home repair, modification and/or renovation tasks at professional standard of quality • Apply efforts toward Project Houseworks’ workforce development partnerships as needed. Shop / Fleet • Maintain shop organization, tool / supply inventories, and van fleet • Ensure inventory accountability / report any damaged tool and turn in for repair • Maintain daily mileage log • Clean exterior van to keep professional appearance and interior as needed; organize at least once/week • Stock cards and brochures for potential referrals Other • Attend organizational events when needed • Other duties as assigned It is not intended that the above listed duties reflect every job duty, responsibility, or task that the Construction Specialist may be called upon to perform. The employee is also expected to perform all job-related duties and tasks assigned by the Senior Construction Manager or Executive Director. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma / GED equivalent • OSHA 10 Certification preferred, but will train • Must maintain valid driver’s license and be insurable • Physical requirements for Level 3: Medium Work. Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Construction experience • Familiarity with BuilderTrend a plus • Organized, self-starter with the ability to manage time effectively • Exhibiting objective listening skills, courtesy, compassion, initiative, creativity, and good judgement • Background, motor vehicle & employment checks required Nondiscriminatory Policy: Project Houseworks does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
