Funny, so many post on hear about writing, producing, and recording all of this original music. They want to find musicians to start a band and record their music and play live. Find fame and fortune! How many places do you see in the triangle that feature original bands? I don't see very many. I watch the music scene pretty close around here. All of the major clubs and bars book only cover bands. Makes sense to me. Not many people will stick around for 3 or 4 hours to hear music they are not familiar with and may not like. Clubs know this too. Your hopes are high, but the reality is that it's an uphill battle that is almost impossible. I'm not saying to abandon your dreams, but you need to be realistic at the same time. You just can't stay busy and make a living playing original tunes in the triangle. So, don't set yourself up for failure. Continue to write and record. Try to get it into the right hands. The playing out part is just not a practical part of that equation.
