Join Columbus Gives Back and help Star House equip homeless and transitional youth to be have the basic essentials they need! Columbus Gives Back is thrilled to become more involved with Star House and to support their efforts reconnecting homeless and transitional youth in Central Ohio! Due to the nature of some of their programs and activities interacting with these youth, training is required before volunteers can interact with kids. What: We will be sorting donations and organizing the warehouse attached to the Star House. Those who have completed the orientation and background check may spend time inside the house as well. Where: Star House, 1220 Corrugated Way, Columbus, OH 43201 When: Wednesday, January 19th (6pm - 8pm) Event Leaders: [email protected] COVID-19 Precautions: Columbus Gives Back is following all recommended social / hygiene protocols. Masks are no longer required for outdoor events but please bring one to the event in case our nonprofit partners require them. Masks and social distancing are still required for all indoor events. Additionally, if you were exposed before or test positive after having participated in a CGB event, please contact the event leader or reach out to [email protected] so that we can best support contact tracing efforts. About Star House: Star House is the only 24/7 drop-in center for homeless youth in Central Ohio. We help transitional youth get connected and reconnected with the community. Star House offers a safe place for homeless youth to seek services and begin to establish trust in order to access stabilizing resources such as housing, counseling, and employment opportunities.  Because most services are not all within geographic proximity of a homeless youth, Star House provides a distinctive opportunity for those youth to receive integrated behavioral, social, and healthcare services all at one site. About Columbus Gives Back: We love Columbus, young professionals, and getting involved! Our mission is to connect young professionals across central Ohio and engage them in our communities through 35-40 social volunteer and philanthropic opportunities per month. #SocialTwist: We have begun re-introducing social twists, where we invite volunteers to hang out with us after an event to have fun doing something local! As of May 1st, outdoor/patio social twists will be coordinated at the discretion of event leaders and volunteers.
