Description

“catchy choruses and melodies that frequently evoke the thoughtful, George Harrison-side of the Beatles” Local Folk/Americana singer-songwriter Aimee Van Dyne hails from Brooklyn, but currently calls Berkshire County her home. In New York, she has performed at venues such as The Bitter End and Rockwood Music Hall, where her live performances have been described as events where “three of the best voices in town soar through a uniquely imaginative blend of ideas: counterpoint, contrapuntal vocals, two sets of lyrics playing against each other, you name it!” Her original songs, characterized by “catchy choruses and melodies that frequently evoke the thoughtful, George Harrison-side of the Beatles” are a distinctive blend of Folk/Americana and Pop/Rock. Her Upcoming CD, “Broken Love Songs” was produced by multi-instrumentalist Jim Henry (Eliza Gilkyson, Tracy Grammer) and recorded by David Chalfant of The Nields. It features a first-class team of musicians, including Jon Carroll (Mary Chapin Carpenter), Paul Kochanski (Lori McKenna), and the Berkshires’ very own Ben Kohn (Misty Blues Band). Aimee began writing songs while still a student at Brown University and then continued to write and record while studying architecture at The Cooper Union.  In 2001, she released her first EP, “Owning Up,” while working as an architect in NYC. After taking time off to raise her twin daughters, Aimee embarked on a major life transformation, moving up to The Berkshires to pursue a career in music full-time. Aimee is thrilled to be celebrating her CD Release Party at The Foundry. She will be joined by her six-piece band, featuring local musicians Jim Caron on violin, Sarah Mitchell and Francine Ciccarelli on vocals, Fran Tokarz on upright bass, and Dave Lincoln on drums. Sarah Mitchell and and Francine Ciccarelli will open the event. COVID-19 Guidelines: All guests must wear a mask when not actively eating and drinking/ provide proof of vaccination at-the-door. Tickets: $15 ($18 at-the-door) Seating/ Bar: 6:00 PM This event is indoors. Built in 1994 as a glass blowing studio, the building’s name references its roots. Now the venue produces theater, music, comedy, spoken word, educational workshops and more, providing a safe place to create dangerous work. Work that counteracts the passive, the isolating, the distance between people. Come experience joyful creation, partake in brave exploration, meet the person sitting next to you, share about what you’re seeing, buy them a drink. Our goal is to present relevant performing and visual art that is accessible for diverse audiences; art that connects and inspires us, and incites us to leap across cultural boundaries. The Foundry is a holding tank for raw, funny, challenging, empowering work that changes the lens through which we view each other.
