Join us Friday, January 21, from 6–9 pm to celebrate the opening of "Shattering The Pictures in Our Heads" at UMOCA. Edge of Discovery 501(c)3 presents Shattering The Pictures in Our Heads, a documentary video installation at UMOCA from January 14 - April 30, 2022 Shatter is a multi-screen documentary experience deconstructing the mythic Indian stereotype with genuine perspectives from members of the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation, NV & ID. Re-indigenizing Media in the Mountain West will be a new video section for the Shatter exhibit. It will premiere on January 21, 2022. Our team will showcase conversations between young members of the Duck Valley Reservation and Native American activists and artists living in UT. We want this project to become a platform for authentic discussions about the ramifications of positive and negative Indigenous representation in the US. This multimedia project is a new endeavor for the Deep West Filmmaking Mentorship by Edge of Discovery, which started in 2014. We can't wait to hear your thoughts about it! edgeofdiscovery.org/shatter
