Gnarling Tree, LLC is an Ecological Design and Landscaping Firm with a focus on outdoor living and fine gardening. Our landscape maintenance program is based on proper, science-based horticulture. Gnarling Tree is hiring positions for Landscape Technicians and Foremen. There are three levels of Landscape Technicians based on relevant skills and certifications. Our goal is to set higher standards within the gardening and landscape industry. Ecology, horticulture, and sustainability principles guide company policy and procedure. Both Landscape Technician and Foreman positions require strenuous work. It is expected that each team member works with utmost efficiency to ensure optimal work ethic and streamline the work process. The amount of effort you put into the job will result in what you get out of it. There is exponential room for growth with this company. We expect our team members to be forward thinking and on point. We are trying to master our craft. The desire to learn and willingness to succeed is the top priority. It doesn't matter what you know. Knowledge can be learned. Actions are everything. Hiring decisions are based on relevant skills, certifications, and degrees in environmental science, ecology, botany, horticulture, arboriculture, gardening, and landscaping. Examples include North Carolina Pesticide License, North Carolina Certified Plant Professional, ISA Certified Arborist. - Do you have plant identification skills? - Experience building gardens and landscapes? - Hardscaping experience? - Gardening Skills? Continual education in these fields is core to the culture, mission, and progression of Gnarling Tree. We are looking for employees who desire to grow as individuals and professionals. This also allows for employees to advance and receive proper compensation. We pay for continued education classes, seminars, workshops, etc. We also offer in house training. Teams are organized on skillset between plants and hardscaping. However, we expect all employees to always be improving in the area of plant identification. All employees expected to work towards and pass the NC Plant Professional Certification. Please email a resume and cover letter. Applicants who fail to do so will not be considered. Job Description and Duties: · General Duties - Tool organization and cleanliness. Trucks are tools. - Showing up on time and preparedness. - Communication with the crew and supervisors. - Following company policy and standard operations. · Landscape Installation - Prepping for Landscape Installation. - Proper planting practices with trees, shrubs, and perennials. - Proper mulching. - Cleanup of finished Landscape Installation. · Hardscaping - Excavating and grading projects. - Creating a foundation and base for the project. - Trimming, cutting, setting stones. - Cleanup up of the finished project. · Garden Maintenance - Proper pruning and trimming practices. - Operates landscape and garden equipment such as leaf blower and string trimmer. - Chainsaw operations a plus. - Fertilization of trees, shrubs, and perennials. - Proper mulching. - Weeding. - Invasive species identification and maintenance. Requirements and necessary skills: - **Commonsense** - Communication Skills - Reliable transportation to and from the project site or meeting location. - Team player - Physically able to complete work such as lift 60 lbs. - Work outside in varying weather conditions. From raining to high temperatures. - Attention to detail - Desire and drive to improve skills and mindset - Work Ethic Example of growth ladder below: Technician I – limited or no experience but desire to pursue a career as a professional in the green industry. Basic plant identification a plus Technician II – 2 to 3 years experience. Basic plant identification mandatory or entry-level skillset in hardscaping. Technician III – 2 to 3 years experience plus certifications, licensure, degree; or· High-level plant identification, or High-level skills in horticulture or hardscaping. Technician Lead - Must qualify as Technician II Foreman – Must qualify as Technician III with 3 years experience.
