Learn the basics of furniture caning while making a sampler suitable for hanging on your wall. The art of caning furniture has been practiced since the time of the Pharoahs. Prized in the 18th century as a more hygienic and lighter-weight option to heavily upholstered pieces, caned furniture is still popular today. Join us for an afternoon introduction to the art of caning. Each participant will receive a frame and learn the steps to cane a 9.5"x5.75" space. All materials included. Workshop price includes a $10 materials fee. WORKSHOP POLICIES LOGISTICS • Saturday workshop participants please park along Hartrey St. or in the lot at the southwest corner of Dempster and Hartrey. • This workshop is 16+ • All materials are included in the workshop fee. REFUNDS & EXCHANGES • If you can’t make it to a class, you can transfer your ticket to someone 16 or older. Just email [email protected] with their name and email address. • If the Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse needs to cancel a workshop, we will notify you 24 hours before the class and give you the option of refund or reschedule. • We do not currently offer other refunds or transfers between classes. STUDENT SAFETY DURING COVID Your safety is our highest priority at The Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse, so we have put safety protocols in place for all of our in-person workshops to keep everyone safe. Those protocols are: Reduced class sizes (no more than 8 participants in a class).All instructors, assistants, and participants will be required to wear masks while attending workshops (we do not have enough masks to provide to everyone, so you will be required to provide your own mask).Social distancing will be implemented when possible and appropriate.All of the tools, equipment, door handles, cabinet and drawer handles, etc. that are touched will be disinfected both before and after the workshop.
