Psychadelic, introspective, elegant songwriting xBk Presents: Spectral Snake with Ryan Stier January 28, 2022 Advance: $10 // Door: $13 Doors: 7:00PM // Show: 8PM Spectral Snake (Brooks Strause and Angela Barr, Iowa City) and Ryan Stier (The River Monks, Extravision, Annalibera) will bring a blend of psychedelic, introspective, elegant, and sometimes spooky songwriting to xBk on Friday January 28, 2022. While touring together in 2019 and 2021, Brooks, Angie, and Ryan began collaborating musically, worshipped a magic “Chumby” stone, frequented diners daily, chased autumn colors, and performed almost exclusively in living rooms of holy friends. Spectral Snake has been described as “The Two-headed Leonard Cohen of Horror", "The Lovecraftian Spoonful", and "If the Misfits were Simon and Garfunkel". Brooks and Angela collaborate on songwriting and arrangements, and include a revolving door of friends to help perform the music live. Ryan Stier blends introspective melodies with intimate, finger-plucked guitar to create what has been described as “kaleidoscopic ruminations on humanness and the unknowable beyond.” The two will co-headline at xBk 1/28/22. xBk is a 250 cap entertainment venue/listening room dedicated to creating superior live entertainment experiences in a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
