Job Summary: The Veneer Repair position uses a handheld belt sander to remove excess glue off of composed veneer sheets. Essential Duties: Sands for veneer lines, using a handheld belt sander. Uses basic computer skills to scan tickets and add regrade notes. Performs cleaning duties, such as sweeping and moving rolling carts weighing 75-100 lbs. to allow forklift access Assists Veneer Pair-Up position, as assigned. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. Entry-level position; we will train. Prior manufacturing (production; assembly, etc.) and/or experience sanding, working with wood products is a plus. Ability to read and understand tickets and work orders written in English. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to understand the operation of sanding tool to make appropriate adjustments. Ability to do other production duties, as assigned. Ability to maintain an organized and clean work area. Ability to follow all standard work procedures in a safe and efficient manner. Available and willing to work overtime, including on Saturdays. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Position is required to stand for long periods and lift or slide up to 75-100 lbs. on a regular basis. Requires fine finger movement for keyboard and gripping hand tool. Ability to distinguish fine details on wood panels, such as glue residue, defects, and discoloration of wood. The work environment includes heavy machinery, dust particles, seasonal temperature changes and moderate to loud noise; PPE must be worn.
