This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the SCLC-GKC Chapter and we invite you to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Mass Celebration! The 2022 Mass Celebration is sponsored by The Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Grater Kansas City and is hosted by Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. The keynote speaker is Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie, the 117th elected and consecrated bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. She currently serves as the presiding prelate of the 10th Episcopal District, where she provides leadership to all of the AME Churches in the entire state of Texas. This event is offered both in-person as well as virtually. The in-person event will require social distancing and masks to be worn. Temperature checks will be taken at each entrance for added precaution. There will be seating for 250 persons in-person and others are welcome to celebrate on-line. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Kansas City (SCLC-GKC) will feature two premiere events for our 50th Anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration. Both signature events will be held in person (with limited seating and social distancing) as will as virtually. The theme this year is "Freedom & Justice Now!"
