Long Lines May Close Salem Coronavirus Test Site

SALEM, MA — North Shore residents looking to get a PCR coronavirus test at the state "Stop the Spread" location at Salem High School might have to be prepared to come back another day if the line stretches too long into the adjacent street. Salem officials said the line may be closed to new vehicles when traffic reaches Wilson Street. "If the school lot is full, this site will be closed to new entering vehicles for the remainder of testing hours that day," officials said. The test site is open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. One of Salem's other free testing sites — the walk-up mobile Curative site at Riley Plaza — was also reduced to three days this week because of low staffing amid the coronavirus spike.
