Greater Boston League Hits Pause On High School Sports

The Greater Boston League is temporarily suspending all high school athletics due to the latest surge in COVID-19 cases. The athletic conference, which is made up of high schools in Medford, Somerville, Malden, Everett, Chelsea, Revere and Lynn, has paused practices until Saturday, Jan. 8 and games until Tuesday, Jan. 11. "It is the hope of league officials that this stoppage will allow our member schools to focus on policies and procedures for all student-athletes and coaches to ensure that we can continue to provide the safest possible environment for competitions," the Greater Boston League said in a statement. League officials said each district will establish their own policy for spectators at competitions, and visiting teams must adhere to that policy.
