SEATTLE, WA — Seattle officially has a new mayor — Bruce Harrell took office on New Year's Day after he was sworn in with a small ceremony. In a statement on Twitter, Harrell said he enters office with "optimism and excitement." "Even in these challenging times, I am energized by what we can achieve for Seattle and each other by working together and leading with our shared values," Harrell tweeted. Happy New Year! Harrell is the city's second Black mayor and first elected mayor of Asian descent, KIRO 7 reported.
