PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Schools in Prince William County will be closed for students and teachers on Wednesday, Jan. 5. The school system announced a Code Green for Wednesday, meaning that no virtual or in-person learning will be conducted, but buildings will be open for staff and administrative personnel. Residents in Prince William County are still dealing with the effects of Monday's snowstorm. Some areas of the county received up to 12 inches of snow. Officials from the Virginia Department of Transportation have expressed concerns about ice and refreezing on Tuesday night. Originally, students were expected to return from winter break on Monday, Jan. 3. Schools closed on Monday and Tuesday, as well. Prince William County Schools offered the following reminders for Code Green operations: Schools and offices are closed.Virtual classes are canceled. The School Age Child Care program will not open. All school activities in the day and evening are cancelled.All non-school activities, like recreational programs, night school classes, and adult education programs, are cancelled. As of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, more than 4,000 residents in Prince William County were without power. Dominion Power and NOVEC crews have been responding to outages across the state since Monday.
