Good Tuesday morning Connecticut, Here is some good news for a lucky Connecticut resident. While no one won the $540 million Powerball grand prize Monday night, a Connecticut resident did win a $1 million consolation prize by matching five numbers. Additionally, a $100,000 winning ticket was also sold in Connecticut, as reported by the Connecticut Lottery. A total of 26,011 "winning tickets" were sold in Connecticut, and that simply means that folks won anywhere between $4 and $1 million. (Spoiler alert: most of the "winning tickets" sold were in the $4-$8 range). The Powerball jackpot is now at $575 million for the Jan. 5 drawing. The winning Powerball numbers for Monday, Jan. 3, are: 02, 13, 32, 33, 48 and the Powerball of 22. Accumulating snow Friday? Before we get to the chance for accumulating snow on Friday, let's revisit what happened to the snow chance on Monday in southern Connecticut. Up to an inch or possibly two inches of snow in southeastern Connecticut was forecast to accumulate at one point along coastal towns. Obviously, that didn't happen. Connecticut's meteorologists explained that stubborn dry air was to blame for the lack of snowflakes Monday and while it snowed around Connecticut it didn't snow here. NBC Connecticut chief meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan illustrates this point on social media. It was a close call but this storm is a miss. A few flurries around Stonington should be about it. We are, however, tracking a chance for snow later in the week. My forecast is coming up at 4. #nbcct pic.twitter.com/41LIutB7LW— Ryan Hanrahan (@ryanhanrahan) January 3, 2022 Our next chance for snow is on Friday morning, and the National Weather Service is already making early predictions on accumulation estimates. In southern Connecticut, the weather service estimates, 1-3 inches of accumulation, and an inch or so in northern Connecticut. As always, a lot can change between now and Friday. WTNH News 8 chief meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote for News 8 that "Watching a storm that could give us our first widespread snow accumulation of the season. Early outlook is growing for a high impact snow event." (Read more at WTNH News 8). Signs continue to point to an impactful winter storm Friday morning. It looks like a quick hitter and there's still some uncertainty as to where exactly the storm tracks - but we'll have a better idea later today. #nbcct pic.twitter.com/S16fPzxY39— Ryan Hanrahan (@ryanhanrahan) January 4, 2022 See also: Popular Connecticut News Anchor Returns To Airwaves After 18-Month Absence She took a leave of absence back in 2020 and recently returned to the airwaves.>>>Read More.
