Press release from City School District of Albany: January 4, 2022 COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits for students are available for pick up from Tuesday-Friday at school buildings throughout the district. Please note that this distribution is for those families who were unable to pick up kits from our Harriet Gibbons Student Services Center on Sunday, Jan. 2. Specific times and locations of pick up for your child's school can be found on their respective school page. Please follow these instructions for administering the test at home; these instructions also will be provided with each test kit: Please use one test the morning of the next school day after you pick up the kit. Read the directions included in the test kit completely prior to using the test. The test will take a little more than 10 minutes to complete. Please plan accordingly. Please note that test results should be read at 10 minutes, and not later than 15 minutes. If your child tests positive (+), please do the following: Keep your child home from school; Take a photo of the positive test and the test kit; Report the positive case to the Albany County Department of Health, using this link; Notify your child's school nurse, via email if possible. You can find the email for your school nurse on each school's web page. The district also is developing plans for expanded building-based COVID-19 testing in the new year. Please remember that pre-registration is required for testing; you can use this link to register if you have not done so already. Health and safety guidance from both the state and the county health department continues to evolve. As always, we will keep you updated as new guidance or information related to COVID-19 becomes available.
