HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The first baby born in 2022 at Howard County General Hospital arrived at 3:11 a.m. weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces and 19 3/4 inches long. Golden Moiselle Douglas had a due date of Dec. 29, but mom Diamond Douglas, 25, said "it was a perfect delivery."
"The nurses got together a gift basket for her and there was a photoshoot in the hospital," Douglas told the Baltimore Sun.
Sharon Sopp, assistant director of communications for the hospital, told the Baltimore Sun that one year, a baby didn't arrive until 10 a.m.
"They come when they want to," she said.
Golden and her mom headed home from the hospital to their Laurel home Monday.
"My New Year's resolution is to be the best mom of the year," Douglas said. "I was the first mom of the year, now I want to be the best."
Douglas shared with the Baltimore Sun the meaning behind her daughter's name. Read about that here.
