Press release from the Middlesex County Chamber: December 22, 2021 Lee D. Hoffman, co-chair of Pullman & Comley's Real Estate, Energy, Environmental and Land Use practice and a member of the firm's Executive Committee, has been appointed chair of the Connecticut Business & Industry Association's Energy & Environment Council. Known as E2, the CBIA's Energy & Environment Council is a dynamic group of professionals who work collaboratively to drive public policy on energy and environmental issues. Throughout his legal career, Lee has been deeply involved in these issues. Over the years he has focused on the development of energy projects and counseled on environmental compliance issues and the redevelopment of brownfields to productive use. Lee was named Hartford Lawyer of the Year in the "Energy Law" category in 2016 by The Best Lawyers in America and listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of energy and environmental law since 2012. "It's a true honor to be appointed chair of the CBIA's Energy & Environment Council. I am grateful to outgoing chair Chuck Nicol of Eversource Energy for nominating me to this post, and I hope that can live up to the high standards he set for this group." said Lee, who previously served as the chair of the Energy Task Force on the E2 Steering Committee. "I am excited to help guide the council's focus and direction as we keep up the fight for a better energy future for all and continue to show that environmental stewardship is not incompatible with Connecticut's business future." E2 aims to ensure a more competitive business climate and was instrumental in passing legislation to stimulate private-sector investment in brownfields and stabilize future electricity prices. It provides local businesses with guidance on everything from the plastic bag ban to PFAS chemicals and climate change legislation. In addition to his role with the CBIA, Lee is on the board of the Connecticut section of the Air & Waste Management Association and the Brownfields Coalition of the Northeast, is the immediate past chair of the Connecticut Bar Association's Environmental Section, is a member of the Connecticut General Assembly's Brownfields Working Group and Connecticut Power and Energy Society, and is a past board of directors member of the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity.
