PRINCETON, NJ — Solterra Recycling Solutions said they are experiencing a high volume of "call outs" due to staff testing positive for omicron or being in close contact. As a result, Princeton residents may experience delays in services due to a limited workforce, the contractor told Municipality officials. "Due to a rise in COVID cases, Solterra is experiencing some staffing issues. We ask that you please be patient with the collection and report all missed collections online through our portal. Thank you for your understanding," municipality officials said in a Facebook post. This staff shortage has also affected garbage pick-up in Lawrence Township and East Brunswick, which also use the services of Solterra. Residents can report missed collection through this form. Solterra Recycling Solutions provides non-hazardous solid waste, organic waste, and recycling collection to over 30 municipalities, 400,000 residential households, and 2,000 commercial customers throughout central and northern New Jersey as well as the Philadelphia metropolitan area, according to their website. Meanwhile, beginning Jan. 4, the Public Works Department will be picking up Christmas trees and brush throughout Princeton. This collection will run for the entire month of January. Those interested in disposing materials should have them on the curbside by 7 a.m. All decorations and lights from the Christmas trees need to be removed. Trees should not be put out in bags. This collection is for Christmas trees, brush, and logs only. Thank you for reading. Have a correction or news tip?
