BAYTOWN, TX — All four ExxonMobil employees injured in the fire at a Houston-area refinery have been released from the hospital, the company said in a statement Tuesday. The fire, which burned for about eight hours after starting early on the morning of Dec. 23, is still under investigation, according to the company. ExxonMobil emergency response teams were able to contain and put out the blaze, the company said. "We understand that incidents like this one may affect the trust that community members have in our operations," ExxonMobil Baytown Refinery Manager Rohan Davis said in the statement. "Our goal is to better understand this incident and move forward appropriately. We will make every effort to take any learnings from this incident, apply appropriate preventative steps and communicate openly with the community as we resume normal operations." Anyone with claims related to the Baytown refinery fire is urged to call the company's claims and information line at 1-800-241-9010. The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office is continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the explosion and fire, though no timetable has been put on the investigation. The last investigation into an incident at the ExxonMobil refinery took about 30 days, so "it could be a while," an HCFMO spokesperson told Patch in an email Tuesday.
