COVID Spike Forces Lawrence Public Schools To Go Virtual

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Lawrence Public Schools will be virtual for the week, due to COVID-19-related staff shortages, the school district announced Sunday evening. "Due to the number of staff who need to be absent this week, including our bus drivers; unfortunately, we logistically cannot open our schools for in-person learning," Superintendent Ross Kasun said in a letter. Schools will be virtual through Friday, Jan. 7 Although classes have moved online, athletic practices and games will continue on schedule for now. However, Kasun said this may need to be altered if the district cannot "cover" with coaches, supervision, and transportation. "We will continue to monitor and will share a decision regarding next week on Friday, January 7. It is our hope that the spike in cases; especially those impacting transportation, will be lower and we will be able to open our schools for in-person learning.
