Description

ORLAND PARK, IL — A new book club through the Orland Park Public Library welcomes adults with developmental disabilities to read together through a national effort. The Next Chapter Book Club is a community-based club that began in Ohio in 2002. Since then, public libraries have worked with parent groups to bring the initiative to them. Adults with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and other intellectual or developmental disabilities can join and will be given the option to read or sit in the room and make friends. According to a spokeswoman for the library, the club will first meet on Feb. 2 and determine meeting times from then. All members must be above 18 years old and a resident of Orland Park. For additional information or to register for the program, those interested can call 708-428-5114 or email [email protected].
