Suspect Leads LAPD On Downtown Chase

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man who barricaded himself in a vehicle and then led police on a chase across Los Angeles early Tuesday morning is now in custody, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. It started shortly after 12:30 a.m. when Officers from the Southwest Division of the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a stolen vehicle call. The suspect reportedly barricaded himself in the vehicle before fleeing, said LAPD Officer Lizeth Lomeli. A chase ensued and ended near downtown Los Angeles Officers had attempted to stop the vehicle several times and the suspect eventually stopped near Maple Street and the Santa Monica (10) Freeway and shortly after he surrendered to police, Lomeli said.
