LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore parents Tina and Lance Simms welcomed one of the Bay Area's first babies of 2022.
Madelyn Mei Simms was the first baby born in the East Bay at 7 pounds and 13 ounces, Bay Area News Group reported.
Madelyn arrived one minute after midnight, according to Kaiser Permanente. She was born at Kaiser's Antioch Medical Center.
Madelyn posed for a photo, wrapped in a flannel blanket spotted with cartoon balloons and teddy bears.

They told the paper they hope to raise their girl to love the great outdoors.
Madelyn arrived moments after the Bay Area's first baby of the year: Ezaiah Maldonado, who was born 18 seconds after midnight at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center to parents Michelle and Andrew Maldonado, Bay Area News Group reported.
