MAPLE GROVE, MN — The Minnesota Department of Transportation has set aside $5 million to complete a ramp connecting Highway 610 to Interstate 94 in Maple Grove, which the agency says will "improve access to a rapidly developing area." Highway 610 in Maple Grove currently connects to I-94 West, but the ramp will also provide access to I-94 East when it is finished. The $5 million project is part of a $54 million plan to extend Highway 610 and connect it to County Road 30, CCX Media reported. The extension of Highway 610 would support about 10,000 new and existing jobs within five years, MnDOT said in a news release. The $5 million project in Maple Grove was one of eight infrastructure-improvement projects to be funded by Minnesota's Transportation Economic Development program. Four of the projects are in the Twin Cities metro. "This round of Transportation Economic Development funding will help communities throughout the state capitalize on strategic economic opportunities," MnDOT Commissioner Margaret Kelliher said in the release. "The projects create new connections to current and future jobs, improve safety and support efficient routes for commercial haulers to move goods."
