FREMONT, CA — While California has already received more rain in the first three months of the current water year than it received all of last year, our area officially remains in drought and water supplies this summer are in doubt. That's why the Alameda County Water District declared a water shortage emergency in Fremont, Newark and Union City on December 9 and adopted an ordinance with water use restrictions aimed at reducing water use by 15-percent across the Tri-City area. To help Fremont residents achieve the desired reduction, each household is entitled to a water conservation kit containing one low flow showerhead, faucet aerators for the bath and kitchen, toilet leak detection tablets, and a toilet flapper valve.
