TUCSON, AZ — A $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a woman sought on suspicion of a federal first-degree murder charge in connection with the Dec. 26 death of a bicyclist on the Pascua Yaqui Indian Reservation, according to court documents.
Federal authorites sought Yvette Garcia, 35, in connection with an incident in which an SUV ran over and killed a woman who was riding a bicycle, according to a criminal complaint. Garcia is also being sought on suspicion of assault with intent to commit murder.
The victim was not identified.
Garcia was described as Native American woman, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, the FBI said in a news release.
The Phoenix branch of the FBI offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Garcia's arrest and conviction.
The woman on the bicycle was hit near 7781 S. Camino Benem, according to a criminal complaint. The victim was found next to a broken bicycle, with tire tracks leading toward and away from her body, FBI investigators said in the criminal complaint.
Garcia was driving a 2007 silver and black Hyundai Tucson at the time of the victim's death, the complaint said.
The FBI and the Pascua Yaqui Police Department asked anyone with information on Garcia's whereabouts to contact the FBI Phoenix Field Office at 623-466-1999.
