CARTERSVILLE, GA — Bryson Shane Jenkins, 7 lbs., 15 oz., and 20 1/4 inches long, was the first baby of the year born at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center. Proud parents Kaley Ely and Michael Jenkins welcomed their healthy baby boy at 9:42 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Piedmont Cartersville. Staci Kenner-Fuller of Cartersville OB/GYN Associates delivered the newborn. "The first baby of the new year provides the same magic of a new beginning just as each new year," said Kelly Costner, director of perinatal services at Piedmont Cartersville. "Babies are a constant source of happiness, wonder and joy and I am fortunate to have been a part of witnessing families welcome their newborns into the world for over 30 years." The Piedmont Cartersville Mother/Baby services staff presented the family with a New Year Baby gift basket in honor of their special delivery. "Our staff's commitment to high quality, safe care through continuous training and education is impressive and I am proud to be a member of this team," Costner said. "We are all thrilled to be a part of the Ely/Jenkins family's special day and would like to congratulate and wish them a very Happy New Year!" Piedmont Cartersville delivers about 1,000 babies annually.
