Description

Happy New Year! And thanks for looking. I’m looking to find players interested in putting together a performance oriented project for summer fun and profit. Would like to gig pretty much every weekend (Friday/Saturday) throughout the summer. If you enjoy Dusty Campgrounds, Muddy Fairgrounds, Park Gazebos, Sandy Beach Patios, Parking Lot Barbecue, Black Flies and PBRs,.... this gig is for you! Perhaps a mix of 50% Outlaw Country (Waylon, Willie, Johnny, Merl, both Georges, Highwaymen, and the rest....) 25% classic county (both Hanks -Snow and Williams, and Jr too, Ford, Tubbs, Carter Fam etc...) and 25% other (Bakersfield, Swing, Twang, Rockability, New Country Artists etc....) We can sing songs about cheatin’ hearts, cheatin’ women, cheatin’ death, unfaithful men, lying rounders and other tawdry barflies, seductresses in short shorts with even shorter memories, boots, hats, dogs and cats, broken hearts, broken dreams and broken down pick’em up trucks. And if that ain’t enough to sing about we can make something up. Pedal Steel: is there anybody out there with the chops, gusto and licks able to take on the challenge and carry the load? Harmonica: hoping to find someone who can blow country harp and has the sensibility of knowing when not to blow; Drummer: critical to the success of this project. Must be able to swing, gallop, drive a train, and hold it all together. Bass: must be someone who can play in the pocket, is familiar with the form and can lock and drive a I-V (think Waylon) as well as walk the line. Violin/Viola/Dobro/lap steel or piano: I’d like to find that one other piece (soloist)... delightful indulgence. Mucho thanks, ye’all.
